Portraiture lies at the heart of Steinhouse-Kandelaki’s practice. Through a careful interplay of color, composition and symbolic reference, she explores individual life stories, seeking to evoke the inner world of her subjects. Her oil paintings reflect a commitment to texture, subtle modelling and nuanced light, bringing a quiet intimacy and emotional resonance. Her graphite drawings, marked by sensitivity and precision, focus on psychological presence through contour and gesture.

A descendant of Georgian portrait sculptor Nikoloz Kandelaki, Anna continues to explore themes of diasporic identity, belonging and emotional truth. Her commissioned works are held in collections across the United Kingdom, United States, Europe, Georgia and the Middle East. Her upcoming exhibitions include a group show in Stockholm, Sweden, in August 2025, and a solo exhibition at the National Gallery in Tbilisi, Georgia, scheduled for the spring of 2027. —
